Antonia Fiscutean

I am a self-taught artist obsessed with detail and the elegance of what is not fully shown. I work with pencil because it does not lie. I represent fragmented, enlarged female bodies as if they were secret maps of desire, power, and beauty. The female form is both the medium and the message, where beauty ceases to be an act and becomes a pure state of being.

My works do not speak of spiritual processes or self-knowledge, they speak of women who already know themselves, who do not need permission to see themselves as beautiful, to take up space, to look at themselves and think: “Damn, I look good.”

I am inspired by those modern divas who have a company, sailboat, abs, and a meditation room overlooking the sea. Women who understand art as what it is: an investment in themselves, a mirror that does not distort, that reveals.

I inhabit that ambiguous space between figuration and abstraction, revealing fragments of bodies, intermittent postures, and fleeting emotions—creating a sense of reality veiled by mystery.

For years I believed that being an artist was not enough. I trained in design, architecture, worked for others, changed cities, countries, roles… always looking for something that would give me that «meaning». But there was a part of me—the most intimate, the most powerful—that remained asleep, until one day, a friend, a photo, and a common sheet of paper brought me back to myself.

That drawing was a turning point. It was not just a portrait, it was a silent “here I am”. It was the beginning of my Contemplation series, and the beginning of something much bigger: the permission to be an artist again.

Since then, I have made the pencil my most honest form of expression. I draw with surgical precision and radical sensitivity. Each line is born from the desire to look deeply, without judgment, without a mask.
